19th September 2012
Organised by The British Property Federation, the Dragon’s Den is one of the hotly anticipated parts of the Green Deal Summit at Retro Expo.
The Green Deal Summit Dragon’s Den forms part of a full-day programme aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the retail and offices sector, which will explore the opportunities and barriers to retrofit and provide a practical guide to how you can get the most out of the Green Deal.
Munish Data, head of Plan A at M&S and Chris Jofeh, head of Retrofit at Arup, are included in a panel of ‘Dragons’ hoping to identify innovative retrofit non-domestic products and services. The Dragons will be judging seven credible and innovative solutions that are capable of mass-scale roll out. They will be looking for process innovations that increase speed or efficiency and have a revolutionary impact on non-domestic retrofit.
The selected innovators will have 10 minutes to pitch, and then a 10 minute discussion with the Dragons. At the end of the session, the Dragons will select the Retro Expo Non Domestic Retrofit Innovation of the Year. The brave and the bold are:
• E-CO and its Ultra Violet C that’s kills bio-films growing on the cooling coils of HEVAC systems thereby reducing resistance to airflow and significantly increasing thermal efficiency
• Polysolar and its transparent photovoltaic glazing panel, which functions just like conventional glass but also generates renewable solar electricity
• Datum Phase Change’s RACUS® ceiling tile that reduces the energy demand of the existing HVAC systems by absorbing and storing excess latent heat from within the building
• Tantallon Systems’ EnergyFusion™ – an energy demand management system that reduces the cost of operating and owning buildings, by optimising and saving the energy used for facilities such lighting, heating and cooling
• Retrosnap’s Passivhaus over-cladding which converts 60s office blocks to Passivhaus standards by adding less than 60mm to exterior dimensions
• Armstrong Ceilings’ CoolZone system, ceiling cassettes with Phase Change Material that delays the requirement for air conditioning by up to eight hours reducing energy use by 50 per cent
• Ewgeco’s range of In Premises Displays which feature intuitive, multi-channel, traffic-light displays that show energy usage and cost ‘at a glance’.
