Iskra, the Loughborough-based small wind turbine manufacturer, has rebranded itself Evance as part of a wider strategy to become a leading player in the global small wind market.
The company, which specialises in small wind turbines for homes, schools and farms, has this week launched a new 5kW wind turbine called the Evance Iskra R9000 and says it expects to export 50 per cent of its production over the next 12 months. It has appointed four new distributors in Europe to sell its new turbine and expand its international customer support network.
Iskra said it had renamed itself Evance – an amalgamation of ‘energy’ and ‘advance’ –to provide a communications platform that will support the company’s “aggressive expansion into international markets”.
“Today’s announcements bring together a unique combination of a new turbine, a brand platform to support international expansion and highly professional resellers,” said Evance ceo, Pete Allen. "This really is a winning combination that will keep Evance at the forefront of small wind market and confirms our unrivalled technology, quality and commercial professionalism.”
Iskra’s move comes on the back of record growth at the moment for the UK small wind sector. UK manufacturers currently hold an 82 per cent revenue share of the UK market and export 50 per cent of their output to over 100 countries worldwide. The weak pound, means export revenues for UK companies doubled in 2008, according to the British Wind Energy Association.
Evance's four new distributors are Shetland Wind Power in Scotland,
Slawinski in Poland, ASP Energie Technik in Germany and Regen in
Ireland and Northern Ireland.
