Low carbon London car hire company, Greentomatocars, is going greener with the addition of the first fully electric vehicles (EV) to its fleet.
Greentomatocars said today that it had taken delivery of two
Renault Fluence Z.E electric cars to join its fleet of 200 hybrid and bio-fuelled vehicles. The delivery comes before the Fluence has launched onto the UK market and marks the first fully electric vehicles to be used by a private car hire company in the UK, according to Greentomatocars.
"We’re delighted to be taking delivery of the industry’s first two EVs and already know that our clients will be as impressed by their performance and credentials as we are," Greentomatocars co-founder and managing director, Jonny Goldstone, said.
Renault Fluence specifications
The Renault Fluence, which is eligible for the Government’s £5000 Plug-in Car Grant, is one of the first family saloon EVs to come onto the market. It has top speed of 84 miles per hour and a battery range of 115 miles. When it goes on sale in the UK in March, it is expected to be priced at £17,850 including the Government grant.
Greentomatocars said the two Fluence EVs would support the company’s growing client base looking to complete zero emission journeys and would be used for shuttle runs between company offices and train stations, as well as for events for clients.
Greentomatocars became the first car hire company to offer to biodiesel-fuelled vehicles in 2011. It said it intended to add more zero emission vehicles to its fleet in 2012.
