Encraft launches service to help renewable energy technology firms cut sales costs

Leamington Spa-based low carbon engineering consultant Encraft is set to launch a new service that it claims will dramatically reduce sales and marketing costs of small and start-up producers and installers of renewable energy technologies.
Encraft is a specialist consultant in micro-generation, on-site renewables and low carbon buildings. It works closely with renewable energy technology producers and installers and says the sector is being hampered by spiralling sales and marketing costs because huge levels of inquiries received by companies working in the sector are not translating into hard sales.

The company has come up with a range of software tools for micro-power manufacturers, installers and specifiers that it says will filter out “the good customers from the timewasters”.

For many micro-generation and energy efficiency products, the ratio of initial enquiries to converted sales can be as high as 30:1. Encraft says its software helps reduce that ratio and cut sales costs “significantly”.

“Installers in this sector are swamped by inquiries,” said Encraft managing director Matthew Rhodes. “They have to spend a huge amount of money on marketing, but too often inquiries don’t translate into sales. This is holding back the sector. Our service can help address that problem.”

The service includes calculators that will allow customers to work out quickly which technologies will work for them and reduce survey time, as well as integrated data capture that speeds up the time spent by the firms on sales enquiries.

The service is being launched ahead of the Government's new Feed-in Tariffs (FiT)– also known as the Clean Energy Cashback scheme – which kick off on April 1. This scheme, which allows businesses and households that install onsite micro-renewable technologies to claim payments for the low carbon technology they produce, is expected to create a major boost for businesses producing and installing small-scale low carbon technologies.

According to Rhodes, the new Encraft service will incorporate FiT requirements enabling small-scale installers and start-ups to take advantage of the new scheme.

Encraft will launch the new service at Eco Build, the world’s largest showcase of sustainable construction, being held at London’s Earls Court on March 2 to 4.
