Hertfordshire-based carbon management software and hardware provider DEDICATEDengines has come up with a carbon management system that promises to cut energy bills of offices and buildings by up to a third.
The company has just won the contract to design and install an internet-based system that will reduce the carbon emissions and achieve energy savings at the largest higher education college in Bedfordshire – Barnfield College in Luton. DEDICATEDengines claims it developed a similar carbon management system for a major UK bank, achieving a 34 per cent energy saving across a portfolio of over 300 branches.
Barnfield College has hired DEDICATED engines to integrate the heating, ventilation and cooling in five plant rooms at its Barnfield Avenue campus.
The Barnfield Avenue campus rooms are currently controlled only by basic timing with manual over-rides, resulting in heating and cooling ‘fighting’ each other. This results in extremes of temperature and energy wastage.
DEDICATEDengines will deploy its carbon management system, eFM solution, an estate-wide remote monitoring and control system, that focuses on improving energy efficiency, reducing costs and improving maintenance. In addition it provides management reporting, analysis and decision support tools for estate owners and managers. The company claims its automatic energy management system can achieve auditable savings of up to 34 per cent with a pay back usually within two years.
DEDICATEDengines will first fit remote temperature sensors across the Barnfield Avenue campus and integrate, automate and centralise control of the main energy consuming equipment (boilers, ventilation, air conditioning and lighting). In addition, it will provide the relevant senior management at Barnfield with a web-based real time carbon management system that will reduce energy usage whilst maintaining a comfortable working environment for students, staff and visitors.
Barnfield College chief executive and chairman of the Barnfield academies Pete Birkett said the college chose DEDICATED engines Ltd after exploring “various systems currently on the market. [We] concluded that the DEDICATEDengines system would best meet our needs.
“We are serious about our green policy and the carbon management system that we are building with the help of DEDICATED engines will generate significant sustainable energy savings with a quick payback on our investment.”
